The University of Wyoming Extension welcomes Savannah May as the new 4-H youth development educator serving Sublette County.

May received her associate’s degree in agriculture from Laramie County Community College (LCCC) in 2021 and earned her bachelor’s from the UW Department of Animal Science in 2023.

Most recently, May worked as a ranch hand at Lerwick Livestock, a working farm and ranch located in Scotts Bluff County, Nebraska.

“I believe that working in the ag industry gives you an edge into the world that your local producers live in every day,” says May. “I think it will help me offer advice when it comes to livestock projects and just being a mentor for the youth that are interested in the industry.”

May also has childcare and administrative experience from her time with the Developmental Preschool and Day Care Center in Laramie. She cared for children, planned activities, created employee schedules, and adapted to fill in wherever needed when other staff were not available.

As a youth, May participated in Platte County 4-H, focusing on livestock, crafting projects, and leadership. “I am excited to be able to give back to a program that did so much for me, and hopefully be able to lead and guide in helpful ways in order to provide the most support to the youth, leaders, and volunteers of Sublette County,” she says.
