The UW STEM Carnival is an annual event hosted by the UW Top-Tier Science Initiative, in partnership with the Office of the President, that celebrates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The event rotates to a new facility each year, with an invitation for the public to join UW for a day to highlight STEM research and programs at the university.

To celebrate STEM, science departments and programs offer tables at the event where they have hands-on activities and demonstrations. The Science Initiative aims to increase awareness of science research on campus, connect the university with statewide partners, and increase campus connections.

This year, the carnival features the four UW statewide agricultural research and extension centers in Lingle, Powell, Sheridan and Laramie. More than 50 STEM tables will be set up in the Hansen Arena, with 10 additional activities for attendees. Visit the UW STEM Carnival website for a schedule and description of the additional activities.

This event is open to the public and is set to host 1,000 K-12 students from neighboring schools and counties, including Albany, Converse, Goshen, and Sweetwater counties. The UW Food Science Club will provide free hot dog meals.

UW Transportation Services will offer a dedicated shuttle to and from the Hansen Arena. The shuttle will run from 9:50 a.m.-2 p.m. in 30-minute intervals, with stops at UW’s Classroom Building and Hansen Arena only.
