Promoting Intellectual Engagement

Four College of Agriculture and Natural Resources instructors were honored with the 2020-21 Promoting Intellectual Engagement (PIE) in the First Year Award at the University of Wyoming.

Sarah Lee, Department of Family and Consumer Sciences; Kassandra Willingham, Department of Molecular Biology; Randa Jabbour, Department of Plant Sciences; and Jeff Edgens, Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, were among 38 award recipients in a pool of over 200.

The PIE award recognizes faculty who inspire students intellectually in first-year courses and is sponsored by the Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning, Advising, Career and Exploratory Studies, Residence Life and Dining and the LeaRN Program.

Nominees are chosen by freshman and sophomore students in an online survey based on the ability to engage students meaningfully in course material, promote successful transition into college expectations and foster investment in learning.
