Forage production, management emphasis at annual Wyoming Forage Field Day

Alfalfa production seed to harvest is the focus of the Wyoming Forage Field Day Thursday, May 30, in Powell.Morning information sessions are at the Park County Fairgrounds, 655 E. 5th, and afternoon workshops are at the Powell Research and Extension Center (PREC). University of Wyoming Extension forage specialist Anowar Islam coordinates the annual event.

UW meats judging team maintains top 10 finishes in spring season

The University of Wyoming meats judging team finished in the top 10 at the last three spring contests this season.“I am very pleased about how things turned out,” said team coach Sierra Jepsen. “2018 was a comeback year for UW meats. Last year was a rebuilding year and to follow it up with the 2019 team, they have just blown away what I thought they could do.”

Campbell County program reuses old newspaper boxes as mini food pantries

Refurbished newspaper delivery boxes in Gillette now distribute clothes, food and toiletries to help those in need of extra support.Called “little free pantries,” four are distributed around town with a fifth planned for the end of May. Many such pantries are popping up across the nation to provide resources to families in need, according to littlefreepantry.org.
