The University of Wyoming Extension welcomes Makayla Getz as the new Park County agriculture and natural resources educator.

Uinta County Extension and Utah State University Extension are hosting a free event celebrating women in agriculture from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 8.

“UW’s outstanding researchers are published regularly in major scientific journals, but the past month has brought the most sustained and widest stretch of international exposure over a short period that I can recall in my dozen years at UW,” says Chad Baldwin, associate vice president for marketing and communications.

The University of Wyoming Extension recently appointed Ellie Riske as the state’s 4-H youth livestock coordinator. Previously, Riske served as an office associate at UW Extension’s state office in Laramie.

The Institute for Managing Annual Grasses Invading Natural Ecosystems (IMAGINE) is hosting a free virtual workshop Wednesday, April 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. MDT. Jeremy Maestas, national sagebrush ecosystem specialist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service, says, “We have a generational opportunity to act now to save the sagebrush biome before it’s too late.”

Though most Wyomingites are familiar with 4-H, they may not be aware of the Wyoming State 4-H Foundation, the organization that provides financial support for 4-H programming across Wyoming.

Several University of Wyoming Extension educators recently received state and national honors from professional associations in their disciplines.

Several outstanding University of Wyoming Extension educators were recently recognized for their service and creativity at a UW professional development conference held in Laramie last month.

CNP provides nutrition programming to Wyomingites with limited resources and works with local and state partners to make the healthy choice the easy choice. Every year, CNP recognizes a community partner and staff members who exceed their duties to fulfill CNP’s mission.

“Even though we’re in one of the top agricultural counties of the whole state, it’s amazing how many kids haven’t dug up a potato, or pet a calf, or even know where potatoes come from,” says Kelly Greenwald, administrative assistant at SAREC and one of the main organizers of the event. “Our desire was to physically get the students out of the classroom and into the field.”

When Mary Martin was first offered the position of Teton County home economist in 1975, she arrived with all her possessions in a car, apprehensive about the two years she’d have to spend away from North Dakota, her home state.

This September, a member of University of Wyoming Extension was honored at the National Extension Association for Family and Consumer Sciences (NEAFCS) 89th annual session in Providence, Rhode Island.

Every fall, University of Wyoming Extension holds a conference honoring exceptional Extension administrative professionals.
