The start of the growing season has been dry, brown, and disappointing for many agricultural producers around Wyoming. Add to that the stress of navigating complex commodity markets and the strain of daily operational and family dynamics, and it’s shaping up to be a very challenging season.
The annual Wyoming Sheep and Wool Festival will take place Friday, July 31, through Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Park County Fairgrounds in Powell, located at 655 E 5th Street.
The event, organized by the Wyoming Wool Growers Association (WWGA) in partnership with the University of Wyoming Extension and Wyoming Wool Initiative (WWI), celebrates all aspects of the Wyoming sheep industry.
On Wednesday, July 22, the University of Wyoming will host a field day at the James C. Hageman Sustainable Agriculture Research and Extension Center (SAREC) near Lingle in collaboration with Eastern Wyoming College (EWC).
The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 2753 State Highway 157.
In 2020, a grassroots group called the Restoring Shoshone Ancestral Food Gathering (RSAFG) spearheaded a community-based research study that collected data about how eating traditional Shoshone foods impacted the health and wellness of Shoshone participants.
