From Range Club to Fashion Club, the University of Wyoming College of Agriculture, Life Sciences and Natural Resources nurtures a wide variety of student organizations. These organizations focus on many kinds of activities, from recreation to community service to academics. Student organizations allow students to make lifelong connections with others who have similar interests and to explore new hobbies or possible careers. They are run by students with guidance from faculty advisers.

Nina Zitani has discovered and named 15 insect species previously unknown to science. Fellow entomologists have named another nine newly discovered species in her honor. A renowned scientist and educator, Zitani has led or co-led more than 30 expeditions to remote areas of Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Peru. She’s collected and scrutinized thousands of entomological research specimens, led field courses in the Amazon rainforest, and served as a biodiversity expert for 18 Smithsonian Journeys, including an “Around the World by Private Jet” program.

For small businesses that specialize in bridal wear and clothing alteration services, Wyoming’s geography and rural character can create unique challenges. But that hasn’t prevented entrepreneurial graduates of the University of Wyoming’s Design, Merchandising and Textiles Program from succeeding in this niche industry.

In 2020, a grassroots group called the Restoring Shoshone Ancestral Food Gathering (RSAFG) spearheaded a community-based research study that collected data about how eating traditional Shoshone foods impacted the health and wellness of Shoshone participants.
