“Sara brings a knowledge of the county and the agricultural needs to this new position,” says Bridger Feuz, associate director of UW Extension. “This knowledge, combined with her prior extension experience, will help her to successfully serve the needs of Crook County in agriculture and natural resources.”

Fleenor has embraced the challenges of adapting to a new position. She believes the contacts she has already developed within Crook County will help her succeed in her new role. “It’s an exciting opportunity to work with a different group of people in the ag world, while still being able to work with kids and support agriculture in the youth in Wyoming,” she says.

Fleenor earned a bachelor’s in agriculture communications and a master’s in public administration from the University of Wyoming. During her 12 years in Extension, she has received national and state recognition for her innovative programming. In 2023, she received an award from National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals (NAE4-HYDP) for an outstanding feature story. UW Extension has also honored her for programs that reach diverse populations and for her expressive arts programming.

Fleenor transitioned to her new role last month. So far, she has focused on creating new agriculture and natural resources programming Some of her signature programs have included the 307 Livestock Show Clinic, the Heart of Gold Livestock Show, and a homesteading class series.

Fleenor can be contacted at sfleenor@uwyo.edu or (307) 283-1192.
