New 4-H Educator Joins UW Extension’s Sublette County Office

The University of Wyoming Extension welcomes Virginia Monk as the new 4-H youth development educator serving Sublette County.

Monk earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Idaho in 2022. She majored in Agricultural Science, Communication and Leadership, specializing in crop management, with a minor in animal science.

Within her academic program at the University of Idaho, Monk developed communication campaigns and gained experience teaching youth audiences. She was a leader in university student organizations. She also served as an ambassador for the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

Monk worked as an intern with Washington State University Extension for two years. She helped facilitate youth workshops, contributed to crop and weed species research, and attended events like the Pacific Northwest Direct Seed Association Conference.

Most recently, Monk worked as a crop insurance account manager for HUB International in Pullman, Washington. The role involved generating insurance coverage reports and helping ensure clients received the proper crop coverage.

Since 2018, Monk has also volunteered with Washington and Idaho Future Farmers of America (FFA), organizing, leading, and judging local and state career development events.

Throughout her youth, Monk was an active member of Idaho 4-H and FFA, focusing on livestock, cooking, and sewing projects. In 4-H, she was a club officer and attended an 18-day Citizenship Washington Focus 4-H leadership event. She participated in the Idaho FFA State Leadership Convention for several years as an intern, working as an announcer, organizer, and communications specialist.
