UW Extension to Host Southeast Wyoming Beef Symposium and Trade Show Nov. 17

The University of Wyoming Extension will host its biennial Southeast Wyoming Beef Symposium and Trade Show on Tuesday, Nov. 17, in Lusk, Wyoming.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds, located at 4080 W. Highway 20.

The beef symposium provides ranchers, producers and industry professionals with an opportunity for professional development and networking.

The event features presentations about leading-edge management strategies, solutions, and opportunities in the cattle industry. “It’s my hope that the symposium is a catalyst for continued learning and strengthening the beef industry in Wyoming going forward,” says Jedidiah Hewlett, Converse County extension educator.

Speakers at the symposium will address issues relevant to beef producers at all stages and experience levels. Topics include the economic considerations for pregnancy detection, price risk management, mentoring the next generation, and a beef market outlook. Julie Daniels, Laramie County extension educator, will deliver a presentation about beginning succession planning on the farm or ranch.

Throughout the day, participants can visit the trade show featuring sponsors of the event. The event will wrap up with a rapid-fire round of speakers providing updates about pest management, weeds, and cattle nutrition. A closing Q&A session will provide an opportunity for continued conversation with the speakers.

Participants explore exhibitor resources and network with agricultural professionals at the 2024 symposium.

Lunch will be provided at no cost. Attendees are asked to register by Tuesday, Nov. 3, to ensure food is available for all participants.
